Day Safaris

If you have a day to spare, we invite you on a perfect days adventure. Commencing at 9.30am at the Mwanga reception (within the Bally Vaughan Bird and game Sanctuary), you will be welcomed by a guide and taken on a conducted tour of the Wild Animal Orphanage. There you will be privileged to see Lion, Leopard, Hyena, Serval Cats, Caracal and the rare and endangered Blue Duiker; as well as Crocodile and many nocturnal animals. The sanctuary is also a haven for exotic and indigenous birds.

After tea on a granite Kopje with a spectacular view of the Elephant sanctuary dam, comes the highlight of the day……a ride on an African Elephant!

Don’t forget your camera to record your ride on the worlds largest land mammal.

Next you will be driven down to the to the Mubuinsi River where you will board one of our 18 foot Canadian canoes (which are extremely stable!). A leisurely and soul enriching time is spent gliding down the peaceful waterways and soaking up the tranquillity of lily covered bays, darting Kingfishers and soaring Fish Eagles. Numerous species of waterfowl and some game line the shores. A delightful lunch will be served at Mwanga Lodge.

You will then board an open game viewing vehicle for a game drive and personalised bush experience. You may see include Buffalo, Giraffe, Eland, Sable, Blesbok, Wildebeest, Zebra, Warthog and many species of the smaller antelope. A visit to our pure Masaai Mara Lions in their huge enclosures is unforgettable. The day ends at approximately 4.30pm.
